Our draw zone

Picture
The AA Bisons play in the South Central Alberta Hockey League (SCAHL).
Our players come from the following recruitment area Minor Hockey Associations:
Foothills, High Country, Nanton, Claresholm and Vulcan

Our Core Objectives

  • Create a safe and fun environment for development of all athletes and coaches to reach their full individual potential
  • Promote equal opportunity for all participants - athletes, coaches, officials, parents, friends and community members - involved from across our recruitment area to feel welcome, respected and valued
  • Develop a ‘winning spirit’ in our communities that will encourage and support all participants both on-and-off the ice
  • Develop a reputation for the Foothills Bisons AA program as one of the most competitive, well-run and sportsmanlike organizations in the province
  • Develop hockey teams capable of competing for a championship every year

Hockey Alberta has adopted a new AA model, which has created AA centres in all of Alberta. These centres will host a AA Committee which will administer the AA teams. The big addition to the model is the host centre will also be able to affiliate players within that centres draw zone, regardless what hockey association they are carded in (within the draw zone). This is great news for players outside of the host association. In the past, only players from the carding association could be affiliated.
Hockey Alberta AA Development Model
Foothills Minor Hockey Association (FMHA) continues to be the carding association for the Foothills Bisons. FMHA has a sub-committee to administer the entire AA program. This committee will follow all Hockey Alberta rules, as well as the Foothills Minor Hockey Association rules and bylaws. The AA Committee is responsible for day to day operations of the AA Bisons program, which includes such things as coach selection, development, and consistency in the program moving forward.
